What is a "TeachMeet" A TeachMeet is an organised but informal meeting (in the style of an unconference) for teachers to share good practice, practical innovations and personal insights in teaching with technology. The first TeachMeet took place in Glasgow in 2006. Since then hundreds of similar events have taken place across the UK and Ireland. The first TeachMeet to be organised in Northern Ireland - TMBelfast - took pace at Stranmillis College in March 2012. This was followed by TMBelfast2 in October 2012. The organisers are all members of the #NIedchat Twitter community and have a regular chat each Wednesday evening at 8.30 using the #niedchat hashtag. TeachMeet is about fun, learning and sharing. Teachers sign up to present on any topic for either 2 or 7 minutes. On the night a random name picker will choose who presents next. The time slots are strictly adhered to and if you are overtime a stuffed camel is thrown at you to tell you your time is up (seriously!).
Presenters If you would like to present at #TMNW please add your name and topic below - you'll need to join the wiki first, we'll accept your request as soon as we get it, then just click the edit button at the top of the page and click save when you're done. Don't worry too much about the topic...you can change your mind later if you wish.
Stick for an idea? Have a look at these videos of the presentations made during #TMBelfast....you'll see that anything goes and the greater the variety the better the experience. Essentially we want to hear about things that are working in your classroom and which you think will help other teachers. TeachMeet "After Party" - Well not so much as a party, but an opportunity to have a "bite to eat" and share the success of the evening. Add your name here to be included in the booking for food, otherwise come along to the Tower Hotel for a drink afterwards!
